Mary Shelley is the famous author of the horror classic, ‘Frankenstein․’ However, it’s not as well-known that her mother, Mary Wollstonecraft, was a philosopher and women’s rights activist who wrote one of the earliest and most important texts advocating for gender equality – “A Vindication of the Rights of Women.” Wollstonecraft was brave, intensely emotional and passionate yet at the same time exceedingly rational in both her fight for women’s rights and education and her personal life.

“A Vindication of the Rights of Women” was written in 1792, during the French Revolution, while Wollstonecraft was secretly living in France as a British citizen.

Let’s discuss her short but eventful life, read extracts from the book and discuss her arguments on December 5th at 7pm at “A1 Art Space” cafe (1/1 Abovyan Sr.).

Don’t forget to register in advance, and bring your friends!
As always, the participation price is just an order from the bar/kitchen of the venue.
