All historians, archaeologists, art historians and representatives of the humanities are invited to attend a practical lecture co-organized by the Laboratory “Art and Artificial Intelligence” of the European University at St. Petersburg and the Yerevan Center for International Education (E-Center). The event will take place on December 6 at 19:00.

Please, register in advance. We will send you the link closer to the event date.

Every year, the digitization process modifies the cultural landscape by providing researchers and curators with new tools. Large databases have been created as a result of the digitization of object descriptions and photographs from museum collections. These databases are now useful for historians, archaeologists, and art critics to train and apply artificial intelligence.

During the lecture, you will learn about practical cases of using AI in the study of museum collections and archaeological findings. Learn different techniques for authentication, exploring hidden contexts, and finding visual analogies. We will also touch on studies of visitor behavior in museums using video analytics and point out the successes, difficulties and limitations in the use of neural networks.

Speakers:

Oleg Lashmanov — Scientific director and executive director of the Laboratory “Art and Artificial Intelligence” at EUSP

Aleksandr Korolev — Technical director of the Laboratory “Art and Artificial Intelligence” at EUSP
