Biography
Andrei Kuznetsov is a researcher and educator specializing in sociology, with particular expertise in science and technology studies (STS), actor-network theory (ANT), mobilities research, and the history and theory of sociology. He holds a Candidate of Science degree in Sociology from Volgograd State University.
Between 2005 and 2019, he taught at Volgograd State University’s Department of Sociology, where he delivered courses across the sociological curriculum and served as principal researcher on several projects examining mobilities and urban transport technologies. Concurrently, from 2014 to 2019, he held a Senior Research Fellowship at Tomsk State University’s Research Centre for Policy Analysis and Studies of Technologies (PAST-Centre), helping establish the innovative Master’s Program “Innovations & Society: Science, Technologies, Medicine,” built on problem-based learning principles.
In 2019, he joined ITMO University as Associate Professor, supervising the Master’s Program “Science and Technology in Society”—a double degree program developed in partnership with the European University at Saint Petersburg (EUSP). He simultaneously served as Research Fellow at the Centre for Science and Technology Studies at EUSP from 2019 to 2023.
He is the creator of ViaText, an online environment designed for advanced research reading. His extensive publications on ANT, STS, and urban mobilities address diverse topics including artificial intelligence in laboratory sciences, public science communication, autonomous vehicles, urban participation, sociology of scientific knowledge, technological accidents, and Bruno Latour’s intellectual legacy. Outside academia, he is a guitarist with a passion for chaotic hardcore and metalcore music.
