Biography
Iurii Agafonov is a political scientist and data analyst specialising in post-Soviet studies, European integration, and foreign policy analysis. He received his MA in Political Science from the European University at St. Petersburg and undertook his doctoral training in Political Science at the University of Helsinki, with research focusing on the impact of the EU Neighbourhood Policy on political regime dynamics in Eastern Partnership countries. Iurii has held research and teaching positions at several academic institutions, including the European University at St. Petersburg, the Higher School of Economics in St. Petersburg, Center for Institutional Analysis of Science and Education (EUSP). He has held research fellowships at the Aleksanteri Institute (University of Helsinki), and the European University Institute in Florence. His research interests include EU external governance, authoritarian regimes and democratization, Russian foreign policy discourse. He is the author and co-author of peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and policy-oriented op-eds published in Russian and English.
