Zhanna (Jeanne) Kormina

Director

Zhanna (Jeanne) Kormina is an anthropologist, a specialist in the anthropology of religion and post-Soviet transformations. After graduating from the Department of History at Ural State University, she studied at the doctoral program of the Department of Anthropology at the European University at St. Petersburg. She defended her dissertation at the Russian State University for the Humanities. Since 2003, she has taught at the National Research University Higher School of Economics at St. Petersburg, and in 2022-2024, she was a research professor at the Groupe Sociétés, Religions, Laïcités, Ecole Pratique des Hautes Études – PSL, Paris, France. Kormina is the author of two monographs, co-editor of two collections of articles and of several special journal issues in Russian and English.
