From various directions, we increasingly hear firm and confident assertions that contemporary Armenian society is undergoing a profound and multidimensional crisis. Specifically, this concerns a social, political, economic, identity-based, and even cultural crisis. In essence, it is quite difficult to speak objectively about a general or even specific crisis in society. To the list of crisis manifestations and outcomes, we might add another crucial element โ an apparent disruption in the reproduction of hegemonic power. In this regard, we may question the continuity of hegemony and speak of a possible hegemonic crisis. Naturally, identifying and proving the existence of a crisis in stable social structures and relationships is an exceedingly complex task in any given case. Nevertheless, let us attempt to shed some light on this contradiction and outline the criteria and analytical elements whose examination may eventually allow us to meaningfully discuss such a peculiar phenomenon as the crisis of hegemony.
