TRUTHS: Y-Conference, May 23–25, 2025

On May 23–25, the Yerevan Center for International Education (YCIE) held the very first edition of what we hope will become an annual tradition—the Y-Conference on Eurasian Studies.

The conference was created to bring together scholars in the social sciences and humanities from and about the Eurasian region. In recent years, many scholars connected to the region, whether through research or personal biography, have faced challenges that disrupted collaboration and fractured communication. The Y-Conference was conceived as a platform to renew intellectual exchange across borders, decentralize knowledge, and contribute to the growth of social sciences and humanities in Armenia, the wider region, and, perhaps, the world.

The inaugural edition, Truths, was inspired by our keynote speakers, Ekaterina Pravilova (Princeton University, USA) and Carlo Ginzburg (Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa, Italy), both of whom proposed topics where the concept of truth plays a central role. We embraced this as a sign—not “truth” in the singular, but truths in the plural.

Over three days, nearly 50 participants from around the world came together for inspiring talks, thought-provoking presentations, and lively discussions. The conference explored the epistemological and ethical dimensions of truth across disciplines and created a space for genuine dialogue, collaboration, and exchange.

We are deeply grateful to our speakers, participants, and the exceptional YCIE team who made this three-day journey through many truths possible. The inaugural Y-Conference was not only a success, but a memorable and impactful beginning of what we believe will become a lasting tradition.
